Postgame Quotes
Jan. 4, 2006
CINCINNATI HEAD COACH Laurie Pirtle "We went majorly away from our game plan. There was a tentativeness about us that made it hard for us to get results. You have to give credit to a very good team who is good defensively, but a big part of it was our fault and how we responded to that pressure. I wish we'd responded with a little bit more backbone. "There was no flow and it made us a lot easier to guard. We were so deliberate and so methodical about what we were doing. I thought we were playing to lose, to be honest with you, instead of playing to win. And you can look at me, and say, `Hey, you didn't prepare them enough in practice,' and I'll take that. Maybe I didn't get them ready to handle that kind of pressure, but I'll tell you what: It will never happen again." "I really thought in the first half we played like we were just playing. But then we had a chance to think about it. We really need to just be able to just play whoever we play no matter what the name of the jersey is. I think we had a really good game plan, but we didn't follow it for 200 minutes. "RU is a very, very good team. We need better preparation and better leadership on the floor. "We came in 10-1 with a lot of confidence and I wanted the kids to see the best in the conference. With our great non-conference season this was the way to start the league season. This team will pick itself up and learn from this game."
