The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team wrapped up its first day of competition at the Hoosierland Invitational at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. The meet continues tomorrow and runs through Sunday. Participating swim teams include Indiana, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Truman State.

The University of Cincinnati's volleyball team held a two sets to none lead, but the University of Pittsburgh rallied back to defeat the Bearcats in five sets (25-18, 25-16, 21-25, 14-25, 10-15) Friday evening at Fitzgerald Field House in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. The loss snapped the Bearcats 15-match winning streak, giving UC its first loss since Sept. 28.

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats (2-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) welcome Western Illinois University (1-2, 0-0 Summit) to Fifth Third Arena on Nov. 22 for a Saturday matinee. The game, which tips at Noon, is UC's first of four games as part of the Global Sports Classic. After taking on the Leathernecks, the Bearcats face Coastal Carolina on Monday, Nov. 24 in Fifth Third Arena before heading to Las Vegas on Nov. 28-29 to play the final two rounds of the tournament. The Red and Black take on Florida State in the third round and then the winner of the UNLV-Cal game in the final round.

Luke maintains a 3.62 (out of 4.0) GPA as a finance major in the College of Business and is the CAS Scholar-Athlete of the Month for November.

The Amateur Athletic Union, the Junior Olympics, organizations of club teams and various summer baseball programs all give those athletes additional opportunities for second looks from college recruiters.

Former University of Cincinnati quarterback Ben Mauk will be honored in a pregame ceremony Saturday prior to the Bearcats' matchup with Pittsburgh at Nippert Stadium. Patrons are advised to make their way into the Stadium beginning when gates open at 5:30 p.m. and should be in seats no later than 6:45 p.m. as UC football will honor Mauk with his belated Senior Day presentation.
